Cheap Web Hosting & Dedicated Servers
The following is a list of cheap web hosts I've come across by monitoring
various forums including
webhostingtalk.com,
isp-webhosting.com, and
isp-colo.com.
I do this because I have a perverse obsession with seeing how low computing
and bandwidth resource prices can be driven.
Most, if not all, of these hosts are physically located in the US or Canada.
Shared Hosting
Hosts in this section provide value for money "high end" shared webhosting.
By this I mean they provide in excess of 1GB disk space, and 20GB traffic
quota for USD 20 / month max. This is my price point.
Most of these providers do not run their own infrastructure and purchase
co-lo space or dedicated machines off the dedicated hosts below.
Thus, a good way to find cheap dedicated hosts is to look at who's actually
providing hosting to these cheap shared hosts.
That's why the forums above are good places to search for cheap shared or
dedicated hosting - both "true" dedicated hosts and resellers hang there
and they're usually pretty vocal about receiving good or crappy service.
Dedicated Hosting
Hosts in this section provide dedicated servers for a maximum price of USD 100
/ month. For this price most will include a minimum of 300 GB transfer.
